Swan Sculpture on the site of Clay Hole Number 1.

From Bricks to Nature Heritage Trail
Interpretation Point G

This is the site of the first clay hole that served the brickworks. Explosives were used to loosen the clay and them men with their picks and shovels loaded the tubs with clay before they were hauled up out of the hole. This site is now a beautiful pool where swans, ducks and other wildlife thrive. The stone shows how the site has gone full circle from nature, to industry and to nature again – From Bricks to Nature.
